Assign a Profile to Scan Peaks

When Wireless Workbench performs a frequency calculation, peaks that exceed the Scan Peak threshold are classified as an active transmitter. Wireless Workbench assigns a transmitter profile to these peaks and creates a frequency buffer around the peak to minimize the risk of interference.

In systems that contain spectrally-efficient transmitters, you can assign a model-specific equipment profile to scan peaks that match the spectrum used by the device. Assigning a specific profile changes the profile from an IMD Device to a Non-IMD Device, which can reduce the size of the frequency buffer around the peak. This in turn, frees up additional spectrum, while maintaining a sufficient buffer around the peak.

  1. Tools > Preferences > Coordination
  2. Select the General tab.
  3. From the drop down menu, select one of the following profiles:
    • Generic Device - IMD|Wideband Exclude the frequency with a highly conservative set of spacing parameters, and assume that this frequency will generate further intermod products
    • Generic Device - No IMD|Wideband Exclude this frequency with a fairly conservative set of spacing parameters, and assume that this frequency will not generate further intermods
    • Generic Exclusion - IMD|Wideband Exclude only this frequency, and assume that this frequency will generate further intermod products
    • Generic Exclusion - No IMD|Wideband Exclude only this frequency, and assume that this frequency will not generate further intermods
    • Select Equipment Profile... Use the hardware profile you select to avoid this frequency
Note: Devices assigned a profile with No IMD will not included a frequency buffer around the peak.

Scan Peak Markers

When a profile has been assigned to a scan peak, a corresponding marker is displayed on the scan plot:

ProfileMarker
Generic Device - IMD|Wideband◆ filled diamond
Generic Device - No IMD|Wideband◇ hollow diamond
Generic Exclusion - IMD|Wideband◆ filled diamond
Generic Exclusion - No IMD|Wideband◇ hollow diamond
Tip: The following marker management options are available by right-clicking on a marker:
  • Delete
  • Ignore
